February 2003   

Attic Salt receives grant from The Puffin Foundation to perform a show at an underserved school in Queens, New York.

 

October 2002

Attic Salt receives grant from The Nancy Quinn Fund sponsored by The Alliance of Resident Theaters/New York.

 

June 2002  

Attic Salt is honored with a grant from The Hudson County Department of Cultural and Heritage Affairs to perform fifteen shows in Hudson County, New Jersey.

 

March 2002

Attic Salt pays tribute to Tom Waits with their successful benefit cabaret Variations: The Music and Musings of Tom Waits.

 

September 2001

Folktale Plays From Around The World is available at bookstores and online.

 

November 2001

Attic Salt debuts its third show for children, Newly Grown Tales, an improvisational storytelling show that teaches children about folktales, at The New 42nd Street Theater.

 

September 2000

Attic Salt produces Dreams by Norman Beim as part of Theatre Resource Unlimited's fall reading series.  It features Broadway icons Sheila Smith and Gordon Connell.

 

June 2000

Attic Salt directors sign a contract with Scholastic, Inc. to write Folktale Plays From Around The World, a theater education book to feature both The Sultan's Wife and Feet Water.

 

November 1999

Attic Salt donates a performance of The Sultan's Wife to St. Ann's Church in Mott Haven, South Bronx inspiring their Donate-a-Show Program.

 

November 1999

Attic Salt Theatre Company, Inc. receives its 501(c)(3) and becomes a registered charity.

 

September 1999

Both Feet Water and The Sultan’s Wife begin touring New York schools.

 

September 1999

Feet Water debuts at The Nino Nada Festival for Children in Manhattan.

 

May 1999

The Sultan’s Wife debuts at Hostos Academy in Manhattan.

 

April 1999

Attic Salt establishes its Educational Division and begins producing two shows for children, The Sultan’s Wife by Marci Appelbaum and Feet Water by Jeff Catanese.

 

November 1998

Attic Salt Theatre Company becomes incorporated.

 

June 1998

Attic Salt mounts its second production, Paul & Nora Sing by Jeff Catanese, as part of the Pulse Discovery Project at the Pulse Theatre in Manhattan.  The administrators at Pulse consider it a great success.

 

May 1998

The members of Attic Salt participate in its first community outreach event, AIDS Walk/NY.  They raise over $400 for that charity.  Walking in AIDS Walk/NY becomes an Attic Salt annual event.

 

April 1998

Attic Salt receives a warm welcome into New York’s theater community when it mounts its first production, The Mystery of… by Jeff Catanese, as part of a one-act showcase entitled Take Two Nights in SpringThe Mystery of… ran at the Duffy Theatre and Chicago City Limits, both in Manhattan.

 

March/April 1998

Informal meetings with the members of the future company were held to discuss the idea of starting Attic Salt.  Interest was high all around, and the spark for what was to become Attic Salt was ignited.
